who was desperately searching for help when she found a book written by two charming sisters named Pam and Peggy who were reformed slobs and were helping thousands of disorganized women get organized with their book “Sidetracked Home Executives: from pigpen to paradise.” And this was before the discovery of the internet.
Now, Marla (AKA Flylady) helps hundreds of thousands of disorganized women because her motive is the same as Pam and Peggy’s. She has learned that when love of self is understood and nurtured getting organized is a natural conclusion.
The book was written in 1977 (way before Flylady showed up). The core message in the book was “No matter what kind of mess you’re in, you are loved by God the indwelling essence of your life.” Pretty soon people proudly started calling themselves SHEs (Sidetracked Home Executives).
Today, Peggy has retired but Pam (that’s me) is still helping women 41 years later. Probably the most important instrument that has helped the most women is the 3x5 Cardfile System that Flylady talked about in the video.
Today there are third generation women now using it and finding fun in the business of getting organized. (Here’s a hint: Just don’t do what Flylady did; no 18-inch long card file box, when you establish a habit you can throw that card away.)
